Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser, and websites can also keep small notes in your browser’s storage. This Cookie Policy explains the few that Career Scout (“we”, “our”, “us”) uses and why.
Which cookies do we use?
| Name | What it’s for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
cs_session A cookie, set when you sign in | Keeps you signed in. It holds a random code, and we keep only a hashed copy of it. | 30 days, or until you sign out |
career-scout.apply-check Browser storage, in the app | Remembers the job you went to apply for, so we can ask whether you applied when you come back. | Up to 7 days, or until you answer |
career-scout.cookie-notice Browser storage | Remembers that you’ve seen our cookie notice, so it doesn’t keep appearing. | Until you clear your browser’s storage |
That’s all. We don’t use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and no other company sets cookies when you visit our website or app. Even our fonts are served by us.
Do we ask for your consent?
The law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations in the UK, and the ePrivacy rules in the EU) asks websites to get your consent for cookies, except those strictly necessary for a service you’ve asked for. Everything above is strictly necessary: without the sign-in cookie, for example, you couldn’t sign in. So we tell you about them instead of asking. If we ever want to use any other kind, such as analytics, we’ll ask you first, and you’ll be able to say no.
What happens when you pay?
When you top up, you pay on our payment provider’s own secure checkout page. It may use cookies of its own there, for example to prevent fraud, which its own cookie policy explains.
How can you control cookies?
You can block or delete cookies and stored data in your browser’s settings. If you block the sign-in cookie, you won’t be able to sign in to Career Scout.
